Google Adwords
Tricks

By Jay Stever
A mistake many people make with affiliate marketing via
Google adwords and other pay per click program is they do not
target desperate buyers! A desperate buyer is one that is
looking for a solution to a a big problem...or...a problem that
has to be dealt with every day or on a frequent basis.
For
example, let’s assume you are promoting ebooks or courses on
how to train dogs. You may have horrible conversion rates for:
dog training, train dog, puppy training, and other related
keywords. However you have no idea why you have low conversion
rates. Honestly though, ask your yourself - would these
be desperate buyers? Probably not. You see people who are
looking for dog trainers are probably pulling out their phone
books.
What you need to focus on is the problem they are having
where they would need a course on dog training. Think for a
minute, what might be going on in their home that is causing
them trouble with their dog, where you, say as a friend, would
recommend they get some dog training.
These keywords are far more targetted to their problem:
dog barking
dog chewing
dog behavior problems
dog potty
training (and related keywords)
dog biting
On top of that
their are hundreds of other variations of those keyword
phrases, and these are the type of phrases that are begging for
a solution! These are the things people with misbehaving dogs
think of. They think of going home to a house full of chewed up
shoes, and junk furniture because their dog won’t behave. They
think of how embarassing it is that their dog barks all night
long because it wants to be played with.
If you can put together the problem keywords people are
really thinking about with the solutions you have to offer you
will be able to come up with a much higher conversion rate.
Additionally here are a few more things to think about when it
comes to Google Adwords.
-Three and four word phrases convert two to three times as
well as one and two word phrases.
-Take your base keyword list and "customize" it to what you
are selling. If you are selling "dog training videos" then your
"dog potty training" keyword can become "dog potty training
video". (You will get lower traffic, but it should be extremely
high converting.)
-There are a lot of great converting keywords right on your
merchant’s website. Read through their information on the
products you are selling and use the keywords you come across,
many never even consider this!
Because there is less
competition with the longer keywords and more targetted
keywords you will get cheaper clicks. This will increase your
ROI which means you are making more money, the whole reason you
started this affiliate marketing journey!
